From Pylsur to Petiscos

This is the third eclipse we have chased and we always avoid leaving the day after to give a chance for the crowds to disperse a bit. This gave us time to catch up with our friends in Iceland, Magnús and Ingi who we have known for just shy of a decade. Magi was our guide for several tours and was very patient with us. We had a nice lunch and a great catch up conversation. Thanks guys!

After lunch we bummed around downtown Reykjavík for a while, it was nice to have time to just wander about.

We have noticed how much access to the internet has grown as we have traveled, especially recently. Full access on all our flights (sometimes pay, sometimes free) which can be good or bad. While we were visiting with the Doziers in Reykjavík I mentioned to Sharon that I had tried puffin (tastes like puffin, FYI) on a previous trip. Oops… Sharon gave me a scolding I have not had in a while. After they departed Reykjavík on the Queen Mary 2 I had to tease her back by sending her a picture of me taking a nibble out of a souvenir puffin doll. Her reaction from the middle of the Atlantic was classic Sharon. All because global communications have grown.

Time to move on to our next stop, Lisbon. We were warned that due to the eclipse traffic Keflavík International Airport would be extra busy so we gave ourselves some extra time. Glad we did, it was very busy but moved in a timely manner. The only thing that caught us off guard was due to Iceland not being as tightly integrated in the EU as other countries we had to got through Iceland immigration departure then go to EU immigration entry at Keflavík. Not as simple as it sounds, I think we did a complete loop through the entire airport, really got our steps in today. Not really an issue but interesting.

To get to Lisbon we had to change planes, and airlines at a very hot Amsterdam Schiphol. Minor fun there, there was a (very) late gate change so we got more steps in switching terminals. Overall a small problem and now we find ourselves in the Petiscos part of the trip in Lisbon.
